The cheapest energy improvement in any building is the one drawn rather than built. Moving a window, changing a wall assembly or reorienting a plan costs nothing at design stage and is close to impossible afterwards.
We work with builders and designers before the drawings are sealed: modelling the options, testing what the envelope needs to reach a target tier or step, and sizing the mechanicals against a real F280 load rather than a rule of thumb.
The commonest finding is that the envelope spec people arrive with is unbalanced — money in triple glazing while the rim joist detail leaks, or a heroic attic over an uninsulated slab edge. The model finds those in an afternoon.
