What it is

This is the best-funded industrial energy programme in the country right now and the stream that matters here is the first one: it pays up to $50,000 towards an energy assessment or audit at a single facility, at up to half the cost and up to all of it for Indigenous-led and not-for-profit applicants. If you run a plant in Alberta, this pays for the study that tells you what to do next.

Dates and status

Runs to 31 March 2027 or until the $70 million is allocated. Waitlists are open on all activities; the Strategic Energy Management stream is closed to new applications.

What it pays, as published

Energy assessments and audits: up to $50,000 per facility
EMIS: up to $50,000, or $250,000 above 400,000 GJ/yr
Capital retrofits: up to $1 million per facility
Up to 50% cost share, up to 100% for Indigenous-led and not-for-profit
