The main retrofit rebate closed in April 2026. Here is what is actually left.
We would rather open with the bad news than bury it. SaskPower and SaskEnergy's Home Efficiency Retrofit Rebate ended in April 2026. Both utilities confirm it on their own pages. Saskatchewan now has one of the thinnest residential retrofit stacks in the country.
What remains, per those same official pages, is SaskPower's Energy Assistance Program for qualifying customers and SaskEnergy's Residential Equipment Replacement Rebate, First Nations Furnace Replacement Rebate, Heating Affordability Program and Energy Efficiency Discounts. Amounts and conditions change, so check the utility before you plan around any of them.
That makes two federal routes unusually worth chasing in Saskatchewan. The mortgage insurance premium refunds — CMHC Eco Plus, Sagen and Canada Guaranty, all three refunding 25% on the strength of an EnerGuide rating — have nothing to do with provincial programmes and are available here on the same terms as anywhere. And for multi-unit owners, CMHC MLI Select is federal.
The physics also has not changed. Saskatchewan winters are severe and the stock is old; the savings from doing the envelope properly are real whether or not a utility is currently paying for part of it.
