What it is

Existing building commissioning is the cheapest energy saving in any commercial building because it buys back performance you already paid for rather than new equipment. Note what this programme requires and does not require: it needs an accredited building commissioning provider from a named list, not an EnerGuide licence. We say so because the two get conflated constantly and the accreditation is the one that gets your application approved.

Dates and status

Open. Buildings need at least 750,000 kWh a year and twelve months of data, and must not have been commissioned in the previous two years.

What it pays, as published

Investigation: up to $0.06 per sq ft, max $50,000 or 75% of cost
Implementation: $0.03 per kWh saved, max $50,000
Persistence: $0.03 per kWh that persists
