The Home Renovation Savings Program pays $600 towards the two evaluations it requires.
Ontario is the busiest market in the country for this work and the reason is the Home Renovation Savings Program. Insulation, windows and doors, heat pump water heaters and air sealing all sit on its assessment path, which requires a pre-retrofit and a post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation by a registered advisor from an approved Service Organization — and the programme expects the same advisor for both visits.
The rebate for those two evaluations is $600, which in most cases covers them. That is unusual and it is the single most useful fact about the Ontario programme: the measurement that tells you what to do is effectively paid for.
One correction, because it is repeated constantly and we would rather you heard it here. The programme has no published end date. Not on saveonenergy.ca, not on homerenovationsavings.ca, not in the IESO plan it sits inside. Anyone running a countdown clock at you is inventing urgency.
On the commercial side Ontario is equally well served. Save on Energy's Existing Building Commissioning programme pays up to $50,000 towards the investigation and $50,000 towards implementation for buildings over 750,000 kWh a year, and the Retrofit Program covers up to half of eligible costs — with several incentive rates having changed on 30 June 2026.
